Theofanis Vlachos

Warrant Officer Theofanis Vlachos was born and raised in Ioannina. He graduated from Non-commissioned Officer Army Academy in 2001 as Infantry Sergeant. During his military career he attended successfully all the military Schools for his rank and specialization and he served in several infantry units and Commands. The period 2003 ? 2006 he was assigned to NATO Joint Forced Command in Naples (IT) as Assistant Staff Officer.

Since 2011 he serves as staff officer of the Historical Archive Service at the Hellenic Army General Staff/Army History Directorate (HAGS/AHD). His main subjects are the Balkans Wars, World War 1 and World War 2 periods. Furthermore, he is a member of the committee for the documentation of the historical archive of HAGS/AHD and participates in several research projects that are supervised by the HAGS/AHD. During January and February 2018 he participated in the search, exhumation and identification of Greek fallen soldiers in the Greek-Italian war, which took place in Albania.

In July 2010 he graduated from the University of Ioannina (History and Archaeology faculty) and in 2015 he obtained a master degree in Greek Modern History from the same university. He is currently a PhD Candidate in history of the Hellenic Army during the second decade of 20th century. He participated in several conferences and his publications include articles in journals and in edited volumes. He speaks English, Italian and he has basic knowledge of Spanish.
